A 15-year-old boy was left shaken after being robbed by two men wearing balaclavas on the Stray in Harrogate.
Two men stole the boy’s beige tote bag containing spare clothes, a black North Face puffer jacket and wireless headphones.
North Yorkshire Police today issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Milton Way between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Saturday.
It said in a statement:
“The boy did not suffer any injuries but was left very shaken by the incident.
“Witnesses or anyone who recalls suspicious behaviour in the area on Saturday evening are urged to come forward.”
The suspects are described as about 6ft tall, muscular builds, dark clothing including black puffer jackets with furry hoods. Both were wearing balaclavas.
Milton Way on the Stray leads to Leeds Road.
They ran off towards the Tewit Well area of Leeds Road.

Woman’s lip needs stitches after being hit in face in Harrogate barPolice have launched an appeal for witnesses after a woman was hit in the face in a Harrogate nightclub.
The female, in her 20s, received a large cut to her lip that required several stitches.
The incident happened at Revolucion de Cuba on Parliament Street on December 10.
North Yorkshire Police, which issued the appeal today, said the assault has only recently been reported “due to the distress and anxiety that the victim felt following the incident”.
It added the victim had “bravely allowed us to share a photograph of her injury” to aid the appeal.
According to police, the assault happened at about midnight as the victim went to retrieve her coat from behind a chair in the upstairs area of the club. Shortly after the attack, a group of woman spoke to the victim.
Investigating officer, PC Sylvia Matla said:
“I am appealing to the group of women to come forward along with any witnesses who saw what happened or can help us identify the suspect.
“This attack caused the victim apprehension and distress but more importantly, anxiety causing her fear of reporting this incident to the police for some time. I would like to reassure anyone who is the victim of crime, that North Yorkshire Police will investigate all crimes regardless of the time passed since it happened.”

Boy, 16, arrested for attempted murder in Harrogate
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Harrogate early this morning.
Police were called to a home on Claro Road at 12.15am after a man in his teens received what officers have described as “significant injuries”.
A North Yorkshire Police statement this evening added the man was taken to hospital by paramedics and continues to receive treatment.
The statement added his family are being supported by specially trained officers and urged people to respect their privacy.
The boy was arrested at 12.25pm and remains in police custody.
There was a heightened police presence in the area around Claro Road today.
Detective Inspector Nichola Holden said:
“We know local residents are likely to be concerned by this incident and I hope the quick arrest of a suspect will go some way to reassure them.
“We believe this to be an isolated event with both teenagers known to each other and we are carrying out a full investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding it.”
“Several witnesses have been spoken to or interviewed by officers investigating this incident and we are confident we have spoken to everyone we need to. However, if you have any other information which you feel may be relevant, please contact police as soon as possible.”

The police statement added:

Woman robbed and sexually assaulted in HarrogateNorth Yorkshire Police has said it is stepping-up patrols in a Harrogate suburb after a woman was robbed and sexually assaulted last night.
The woman was attacked while walking in the Bogs Lane area, which is off Knaresborough Road.
She sustained facial injuries and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
A police statement today said:
“It happened at around 8.30pm when the victim was approached by a man on a lane near to the tennis field who stole her jacket and mobile phone and sexually assaulted her.
“The suspect is described as tall and was wearing dark coloured clothing including black jogging trousers, a black puffa jacket, brown boots and had a large ring on his finger. Following the assault he ran off in the direction of Starbeck High Street.”
The statement added officers were “carrying out extensive enquiries including CCTV and house-to-house enquiries”. It added people may see an increased police presence in the Bogs Lane area.
Police are also appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious people to contact them.
They urged anyone who lives in Bogs Lane, Allotment Gardens, Hillbank View or the approaches to Bogs Lane who has doorbell or private CCTV cameras that may have captured the suspect or the incident to get in touch.

Police seek hit and run driver after scooter rider hurt in Harrogate
Police are appealing for information after a crash in Harrogate in which a vehicle failed to stop.
North Yorkshire Police said this morning a black Lambretta scooter and a red 4×4 style vehicle were involved in a crash between 9.45am and 10am on on Saturday.
It occurred on Skipton Road near the Empress roundabout.
A police statement said:
“The red vehicle failed to stop at the scene and continued towards the Empress roundabout.
“The rider of the scooter suffered injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.”
It urged witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward.

Dumper truck stolen in Ripon building site burglary
Burglars using a low loader are believed to be responsible for a building site burglary in Ripon yesterday.
North Yorkshire Police today urged people to report any suspicious activity in the College Road area of the city following the burglary, which happened at about 10.15pm last night.
Thieves took a mini yellow dumper truck from the site and broke into a container to steal tools.
A police statement today said:
“It’s likely the suspects were travelling in a vehicle with a trailer or in a low loader.

Antique safe stolen from Harrogate
Police are appealing for information about the theft of an antique safe from Harrogate.
The safe was stolen from a property on Sussex Avenue between 6.30pm and 8pm on Monday, 10 January. Its value has not been revealed.
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement:
“Three people are believed to have been involved and we are appealing to anyone who either saw something suspicious in the area around the time of the burglary or who has seen it since.”

Burglars steal high-value goods from Knaresborough new build estate
Police are appealing for information after a number of high-value goods were stolen from a new build housing estate in Knaresborough.
Criminals targeted two homes which had yet to be completed on Lapwing Crescent on the Trinity Fields development between December 18 and 19, 2022.
A washing machine, dishwasher, oven and two showers were among the items stolen from the properties.
The burglars also stole two kitchen taps, 12 kitchen handles, 12 kitchen plinth lights, 10 downlights and a cooker hood.

Vandals damage Mercedes in Harrogate
Police are appealing for help after vandals damaged a Mercedes in Harrogate.
The incident happened on Alderson Road, off Leeds Road, shortly before 6.30am on Monday this week.
A North Yorkshire Police statement said two men in dark clothing approached the vehicle on foot from the Leeds Road junction. It added:
“One appears to have kept a look-out while the other damaged the windows of an unattended black Mercedes.
“North Yorkshire Police are requesting the public’s assistance to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“In particular, officers are asking a female jogger to get in touch. She was wearing a high-vis harness, and may have run past the offenders on Leeds Road immediately prior to the junction of Alderson Road.”
Police also want to contact the driver of a white pick-up truck — possibly a milk delivery vehicle — that pulled into Alderson Road as the damage was taking place.

Police ‘extremely worried’ for Ripon man missing for nine days
North Yorkshire Police has tonight renewed its appeal for information following the disappearance of a man from Ripon.
Gavin Dhont, 45, was last seen in the city on Tuesday, December 6, and officers said they are extremely worried for his welfare.
Gavin enjoys walks in areas including the Hell Wath, Studley Roger, Studley Royal Park and along the river Ure. He also enjoys visiting Ripon Wetlands.
Police are asking residents and business owners in these areas, and along Princess Road and Lead Lane, to check any video doorbells which may hold footage of Gavin.
Gavin also has connections to Scarborough and may have travelled there.

A number of enquiries have been carried out since Gavin was last seen and officers are currently working to establish if a potential sighting of him on Tuesday can be confirmed.
Gavin’s Dad, Luc, said:

“We have released another photograph of Gavin in the hope it will help people remember whether they have seen him and if you have, please contact police with information.”
Gavin is described as of thin build with short dark brown hair.
