Care homes in the Harrogate district have now reported more than 100 coronavirus deaths among their residents. It is a grim milestone for the local care sector.
The latest ONS data, which only accounts for deaths up to July 3, revealed that there have been 104 deaths. That number is where coronavirus is mentioned on the death certificate.
It is different from the NHS England data from hospitals where the deaths are only added to the tally when coronavirus is deemed to be the cause of death.

Currently, Harrogate District Hospital has recorded 81 coronavirus deaths. That is according to NHS England data from yesterday.
This new ONS data revealed that there have been four extra deaths at the hospital. That difference is where coronavirus is on the death certificate but not necessarily the cause of death.
It also revealed that there have been five deaths at homes, one death at hospices, and two more deaths at “other communal establishments.”

It comes as the hospital records three more patient recoveries. That takes the hospital up to 139 discharges and 81 deaths.
The hospital had not reported any deaths for 16 days before the latest death on July 3.
Meanwhile, a further 22 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died in England’s hospitals.

Of that number, two were recorded in the North East and Yorkshire.
NHS England said patients were aged between 53 and 94 years old. One patient, aged 77 years old, had no known underlying health conditions.
It means the national total number of deaths in hospitals has increased to 28,991.

The latest figure on care home deaths is from the ONS and only covers deaths that occurred up to June 26.

The figures come on the day Prime Minister Boris Johnson has faced fierce criticism from care home providers after he blamed them for the number of coronavirus deaths.
He said on a visit to Yorkshire yesterday that too many care homes did not “follow the procedures.”
And a government spokesman said he would not be apologising for the remarks, and said the government had “put in place rigorous testing and additional funding”.

Patients were aged between 54 and 94 years old. All patients had known underlying health conditions.

So far, the hospital has reported 80 coronavirus deaths. The last coronavirus death happened on June 18.
Harrogate hospital reaches 13 days without coronavirus deathsFor the last 13 days, Harrogate District Hospital has not recorded any coronavirus deaths.
It is, once again, the longest time since lockdown that the hospital has gone without reporting that at least one of their patients with COVID-19 has died.
So far, the hospital has reported 80 coronavirus deaths. The last coronavirus death happened on June 18.

A further 38 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in England’s hospitals, taking the total up to 28,832.
Patients were aged between 33 and 96 years old. Two patients, aged 50 and 69, had no known underlying health conditions.
Ten days without hospital covid deaths – but care home numbers rise againThere have been no new reported deaths related to coronavirus at Harrogate District Hospital for the tenth day running.
The hospital’s total number of deaths remains at 80, as NHS England reports 37 new deaths across the country today.
Of those, five were in the North East and Yorkshire. Patients were aged between 48 and 94, and all but one, aged 80, had known underlying health conditions.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths in care homes across the Harrogate district has risen to 94.
The latest figure, released today, covers all deaths in care homes until June 19. It is up by 4 from the figures released last week, which showed 90 deaths had occurred up to June 12.
As well as care homes, the data also revealed that no Harrogate people with coronavirus died in their homes, at a hospice, or in other communal establishments during that week. The total number of deaths in those locations across the Harrogate district remains at seven.

Patients were aged between 56 and 97 years old. Two patients, aged 73 and 96, had no known underlying health conditions.
No coronavirus deaths in Harrogate with lowest UK toll since lockdownHarrogate District Hospital has not reported any coronavirus deaths today as the UK records the lowest daily toll.
The hospital in Harrogate remains at 80 deaths in total and has also discharged 125 patients.
New statistics from the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) show that there have been 15 coronavirus deaths in the UK. It means that the UK has now recorded 42,647 deaths.

It will be welcome news for many but there is usually a lag in reporting after weekends.
That is across all settings including care homes and anywhere in the community, not just hospitals.
Separate NHS figures out today revealed that England’s hospitals reported 20 deaths – the fact that these hospital deaths are lower than deaths in all settings may seem confusing.
Our understanding is that the DHSC figures are for all settings reported on the previous day whereas the NHS hospital figures could be from days or even weeks ago.

A further 26 people, who tested positive for the covid, have died. It brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,318. 5 were in the Yorkshire and North East region.

Patients who’s deaths were reported today were aged between 61 and 94 years old. All patients had underlying health conditions.
No further coronavirus deaths at Harrogate hospitalHarrogate District Hospital has reported no further deaths from patients who tested positive for coronavirus, according to NHS figures today.
It means that the covid-19 death toll remains at 78 for people who have died in hospital in the district.
Meanwhile, a further 77 patients who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospitals across England. Eight of those were in North East and Yorkshire.

It brings the death toll nationally in the country’s hospitals to 28,138.
Yesterday, it was revealed that care homes in Harrogate had reported 83 coronavirus deaths.
