Police have appealed for witnesses to a collision involving a cyclist and a Mercedes at a busy roundabout in Harrogate this week.
The cyclist came off their bike at New Park roundabout just after 2pm on Monday.
According to North Yorkshire Police, the cyclist “took action to avoid the black Mercedes SUV, came off his cycle, and sustained minor injuries”.
The victim was travelling east on Skipton Road and the Mercedes entered the roundabout from Ripon Road in the Ripon direction.
A police statement said:
“We are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone who recalls seeing the pedal cyclist or Mercedes prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.

Emergency services attend crash on Leeds Road in Harrogate
Police and firefighters are at the scene of a traffic accident on Leeds Road in Harrogate after a car crashed into railings.
The incident happened at about 10am at the roundabout where Leeds Road meets St George’s Road.
Debris from the vehicle was scattered on the road.
An eyewitness told the Stray Ferret there were two police officers and two fire crews attending at 10.30am today.
They added it did not appear anyone had been seriously injured.

Van driver taken to hospital after major crash at Allerton Park
A van driver was taken to hospital after a serious collision with a lorry on the A1(M) at Allerton Park last night.
The crash happened at junction 47 just before 6pm and led to three-mile tailbacks and lengthy delays.
Firefighters from Knaresborough, Harrogate, Ripon and Tadcaster were summoned to help.
According to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident log, “a van had impacted the trailer of a HGV and the driver was trapped by the dashboard”.
It added:
“On arrival, crews used cutting equipment, spreaders, rams and a turfer to free the male driver of the van.
“The driver was transported to hospital by road ambulance with a suspected broken femur.”
North Yorkshire Police has not released any information about the incident.

Car crashes into shop in Knaresborough
A driver escaped serious injury today when his car crashed into the front of a shop on Knaresborough High Street.
The Honda mounted the pavement and went into The Clothing Store of Knaresborough early this afternoon.
Dave Lombardi, whose wife Rebecca owns the shop, went to help the passenger and then called the emergency services for help. He said:
“I was in the shop and next thing I knew there was a loud bang and there was a blue Honda in the entrance to the door.
“The driver was quite elderly and thankfully he seemed to be fine.”
The front of the car hit the pillar outside the shop.
Police and ambulance crews attended the scene.
Mr Lombardi said a concrete pillar outside the shop and the car bumper were damaged but the situation could have been far worse.
Only one customer was in the shop at the time and nobody was walking past on the busy High Street at the time of the incident.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:
“We’re at the scene of a collision on Knaresborough High Street, which happened at about 2pm today, when a car collided with a building. There are not believed to have been any injuries.”

Man pleads guilty to failing to stop after serious crash in Harrogate
A man has pleaded guilty to failing to stop and report a serious crash on Harrogate’s Cold Bath Road last year.
Harris Hendry-Hussain, of Swinton Court, Harrogate, appeared before Harrogate Magistrates Court this morning charged with three offences.
The 21-year-old, who spoke only to confirm his name and address, was charged with driving without insurance, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report the accident.
The prosecution told the court Hendry-Hussain was driving a Volkswagen Golf on the morning of the incident on March 6, 2022.
At 3.10am, police were called when Hendry-Hussain’s car crashed into two parked cars on Cold Bath Road.
The prosecution said a male, who was a passenger in the Volkswagen, was left at the scene and required hospital treatment for neck and back injuries.

It added the 21-year-old was later identified on CCTV fleeing the scene of the crash.
In a statement at the time, North Yorkshire Police said it was only by “sheer luck” that no one died as a result of the collision.
Hendry-Hussain pleaded guilty to all three charges put to him in court this morning.
Harrogate Magistrates Court adjourned the case for sentencing on May 11.
Blubberhouses crash: lorry driver banned for being three times over limitA lorry driver who lost control on the A59 at Blubberhouses on Tuesday was three times over the drink-drive limit.
Jacek Borowski, 51, from Poland lost control of his HGV heading down the hill.
His vehicle blocked the road completely for most of the day, causing significant disruption on the main route between Harrogate and Skipton.
Nobody else was involved or injured.
The lorry blocked the road for most of the day.
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement today Borowski had been banned within 24 hours of the incident. It added:
“Officers breathalysed the driver who blew 92 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milligrams of breath – almost three times the legal limit.
“He was remanded into custody immediately and put before York Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 19 April where he pleaded guilty to driving over the prescribed limit and was disqualified from driving for 23 months.”

Dashcam footage appeal after serious crash on Leathley Lane
Police are appealing for dashcam footage of a serious collision on the edge of the Harrogate district.
A woman in a green 12-reg Mazda broke several bones and was hospitalised for five days.
The crash happened at 9.20am on Tuesday, March 14 at Leathley Lane near Castley Lane.
According to North Yorkshire Police, three other vehicles were involved: a white 21-reg Ford Transit van, a grey 21-reg Hyundai Ioniq and a grey 10-reg Skoda Roomster.
The stretch of road was closed for several hours while officers investigated and vehicles were recovered.
A police statement said:
“We’re appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicles involved prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.
“In particular, we’re appealing for motorists in the area at the time who may have relevant dashcam footage of the collision itself or of any of the vehicles involved prior to the incident.”

Police appeal after serious crash on A1(M) near Dishforth
A serious crash on the A1(M) near Dishforth left the occupants of a Fiat 500 requiring hospital treatment.
North Yorkshire Police issued an appeal for further information today after the crash closed the stretch of road before junction 49 at 5.50am on Friday (March 31) for two hours.
The crash involved a white Fiat 500 and a heavy goods vehicle. The occupants of the Fiat suffered serious injuries and required hospital treatment.
A police statement said:
“Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle(s) prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.
“They would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who captured dash cam footage of the collision or the vehicles.

Air ambulance lands after serious collision in Knaresborough town centre
An air ambulance has landed in Knaresborough after a man was injured in a serious collision this morning.
Police cordoned off part of the market place at about 11.30am this morning. The road has now reopened.
Shortly afterwards an air ambulance landed in the castle yard. It has now left the scene.
The man was injured near Appleton’s butchers and the library.
North Yorkshire Police issued a statement at 12.40pm today, which said:
“We’re with ambulance colleagues attending a serious collision in Knaresborough’s Market Place.“It happened at about 11am and involved two cars and a pedestrian. A man has been taken to hospital.“Please avoid the area while the emergency services work at the scene.”

Fundraiser for injured Rossett students passes £5,000 target
An online fundraising appeal set up in aid of two teenagers injured in a crash in Harrogate has passed its £5,000 target.
The 15-year-old boys, Reuben and Fraser, were taken to hospital when a van collided with a wall on Yew Tree Lane last Thursday (February 2).
Lorraine Mitchell, a friend of both teenagers’ parents, set up a GoFundMe page following the crash in an effort to raise money for the families “to be with their son to support the rehabilitation process”.
Since then, the fundraiser has reached £5,325 and is continuing to attract pledges.
Ms Mitchell said:
“We were all shocked and incredibly saddened by the crash and know this support will be gratefully received by both families.”
The boys, both pupils at Rossett School, were walking along Yew Tree Lane at the time of the incident and were left with serious injuries.
Another fundraising appeal for the boys, set up by Julie Mills, has so far generated £1,654 — close to its £2,000 target.
It means almost £7,000 has now been pledged in total.
