A fresh round of rail strikes is set to affect services across the Harrogate district from tomorrow.

Rail operator Northern, which runs services between York and Leeds that pass through Knaresborough and Harrogate, has warned of disruption tomorrow (Thursday, February 29) and no services at all on Friday.

Further disruption is expected on Saturday before normal service resumes on Sunday.

Train drivers at Northern and LNER are to strike next month after the Aslef union claimed the rail operators had persistently failed to comply with agreements.

Aslef members, who include train drivers, will strike on Friday and observe an overtime ban tomorrow and Saturday.

Northern said in a statement:

"Some Northern services are expected to be very busy on routes shared with other train operators.
"We expect some late notice cancellations to services, particularly the first and last services of the day. Please check before travelling, as close to the time as possible.”

LNER, which operates London services passing through Harrogate, has said it expects to run 23% of its usual timetable.

The company said in a statement:

"We will be running a reduced service across most of our route. There will be a small impact to services on the days either side."

An updated LNER timetable is available here.
