We have anonymised our coverage of this police appeal as North Yorkshire Police has identified the man they wanted to speak to.

North Yorkshire Police has issued an image of a man they want to speak with after a man bought what he believed was an Apple watch via the internet, that turned out to be counterfeit.

In a statement issued today, officers said the incident took place on Wednesday, January 3, in Harrogate.

Police are asking the public to get in touch if they recognise the person in the image as they said he is  could assist the investigation.

It said:

"Anyone with information that could aid the investigation should email ben.robinson-brockhill@northyorkshire.police.co.uk or call 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Ben Robinson-Brockhill.
"Alternatively, if you have information but wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. "
