An event believed to be Harrogate's first Bollywood DJ night is to hit the town next month.

Husband and wife Bijal and Parag Udeshi said they had noticed a lack of Indian culture nights during their four years living in Harrogate.

They have therefore organised the Asian Vibes event, which will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Saturday, June 22.  It is a ticketed event with food included in the £25 price.

The venue will be transformed into a Bollywood club for over-18s with a live Dhol (Indian drum) player and Bradford's DJ Lucky playing Bollywood and Bhangra hits from the South Asian music genre.

Ms Udeshi said:

"A Bollywood night is needed, there has been nothing Bollywood for a very long time and I believe this is the first ever Bollywood DJ night in Harrogate.
"When I posted a teaser on social media there was a lot of excitement, a lot of people have been waiting for something like this to happen."

Many people already travel to Leeds and Bradford to attend Bollywood events. Now the Udeshis hope to make Harrogate a regular fixture on the Yorkshire Bollywood scene too.

The couple said they expect between 150 to 200 people will attend the first event.

Ms Udeshi added:

"A Bollywood night would be a good thing for everyone in North Yorkshire, not just Harrogate."
