A Harrogate hospice has announced the return of a Knaresborough fundraising event this March.
Saint Michael’s Hospice Twilight Walk is a 6.5 kilometre sponsored trail around the town.
The event, on Saturday, March 16, will be the first since 2019 when 500 people raised more than £20,000. Covid then forced its cancellation.
Funds raised support the charity’s work helping local families living with terminal illness and bereavement.
The walk takes supporters on a trail passing various historic sites in Knaresborough as the sun goes down.
Visitors will see the castle light up in Saint Michael's purple colour to commemorate the care it provides for people in the community.
A pyjama theme has been adopted this year and there is also an extension of the original route to 6.5 km (4 miles).
The walk starts at 5.30pm at King James's School and ends back at the school at 9.30pm. It is non-competitive and open to families, couples, groups of friends, work colleagues, and pets. It can be walked in tribute to someone special, or just for fun.
Sandra Gilbert, community and events volunteer at Saint Michael’s, said:
The Hormbeam Park-based charity cares for people living with terminal illness in their own homes, and at Crimple House Hospice. it also offers bereavement and emotional support.
To mark the walk's return, the charity has launched a limited early bird rate available here.
