Harrogate Accessorize

Accessorize in Harrogate has reopened today.

The store is now focused solely on homeware and gifting after undergoing refurbishment.

The unit was previously a dual store for sister brands Accessorize and Monsoon.

Both closed last month and Accessorize later confirmed that Monsoon had permanently closed with the nearest store now in York.

Staff at Accessorize, which is celebrating 40 years on the high street, said at today's reopening the Harrogate store was the first of its kind as it is the first place pursuing its new homeware business model.

The brand traditionally sold women’s accessories but now offers “a more diverse selection of gifting categories such as bridal, home and summer”, as well as self-care and men’s gifting products.

Staff said if the Harrogate store is successful, they will begin to roll out this rebrand of stores nationwide.

An Accessorize spokesperson told the Stray Ferret today:

“The reintroduction celebrates 40 years of Accessorize. We have our own brand products alongside Indian-inspired patterns and responsibly sourced British artisan brands."
"This is a completely one-off store and we wanted to do it outside of London to show we are not just a London-centric brand. We wanted to really lean in to being Accessorize and embrace the fun concept of a homeware store.”

The refurbished store sits on Harrogate's premier shopping street alongside other fashion retailers, including accessories and homeware store Oliver Bonas.

An Accessorize spokesperson said it was not concerned about the close proximity and similar layout of the stores.

They added:

"We have really embraced our brand and we have a lot of really great products. Accessorize is extremely well established and we have a long standing connection with our customers. Our store isn't as large (as Oliver Bonas) and we have so many fun and vibrant products on offer."

Accessorize Harrogate offers gifting, homeware, bridal and piercings.

Accessorize was established in 1984 in Covent Garden and has since opened 295 stores across 25 countries. To mark its 40th anniversary the brand has launched a campaign that revives its most popular styles in a new archive collection.
