A huge search operation involving hundreds of people is continuing in Ripon  to find a missing eight-year-old Cocker Spaniel.

Ella went missing at about 11.30am with her younger sister Holly on Friday, October 13.

They were in a group of dogs being exercised by a professional dog walker in the Clotherholme Road wooded area on the Royal Engineers’ barracks site,

But while three-year-old Holly was found safe 35 minutes later, the search for Ella, launched by her distraught owners Andy and Jo Coombs, who live in the Ripon area, has been ongoing day and night since.

Co-ordinated by Mandy Butler of the Lost Dog Trapping Team Search & Rescue Network, the operation has involved the use of tracker dogs, drones with thermal imaging equipment, monitoring of live cameras, checking cctv footage, the production and installation of hundreds of ‘missing’ posters and an appeal for assistance on social media.

On Sunday, 60 members of the community, including a large contingent of dog owners, carried out a detailed search of the route where Ella had been walking on October 13.

Mr Coombs told the Stray Ferret:

“My wife and I are trying to remain hopeful and putting our full energies into finding her.

“Since she went missing there has been a massive gap in our lives, that will only be filled when she returns to us. “

He added:

“The response of the local community has been incredible, with hundreds of people stepping in to help us in whatever ways that they can, from putting up posters, to reporting potential sightings that we have been following up.”

Police have confirmed a missing 16-year-old girl from Harrogate has been found

Officers issued an appeal after she was last seen at 12.45am yesterday (October 17) in Harrogate.

North Yorkshire Police has since confirmed the teenager has been found.

North Yorkshire Police has found a wanted Ripon man who went missing.

The 23-year-old was released on licence on May 19 this year but the Probation Service has since reported “poor behaviour”.

North Yorkshire Police released a wanted appeal on Friday, but have since located the suspect.

Missing Harrogate man found ‘safe and well’

North Yorkshire Police said today a missing man from Harrogate had been found “safe and well”.

Police issued a description and appeal yesterday for help locating the 27-year-old from Starbeck, who had not been since since Friday night.

But the force issued a statement today, which said the man had been found.

It added:

“North Yorkshire Police would like to thank members of the public and the media for sharing the appeals.”

Police appeal for missing teenager who could be in Harrogate

Police have appealed for information about a missing teenager who may be in Harrogate.

Lucas Harwood, 15, was reported missing at 4.30pm on September 21.

West Yorkshire Police said he was last seen on a football pitch near Toller Lane in Bradford.

Officers say he has links to Harrogate, Leeds and Bradford.

He is described as mixed race, around 5ft 9ins tall, slim build, with short black hair and a slight moustache.

He was last seen wearing a blue tracksuit, long sleeved top and trousers in navy blue with a white stripe, he also had a black Adidas bag with him. 

A West Yorkshire Police statement added:
