Firefighters used breathing apparatus to deal with a kitchen fire that broke out in Harrogate last night.
Fire crews from Harrogate, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge were called to Grange Avenue, which is one of the roads between Skipton Road and King’s Road, at 9.37pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
“The fire had started under the kitchen units, believed to have been caused by faulty wiring.
“Crews entered the property wearing breathing apparatus and used one hose reel jet to extinguish. They then assisted with ventilating the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
“The fire caused approximately 15% fire damage to the kitchen units and smoke logging throughout the property.”

Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in a bungalow at Starbeck today.
Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough were summoned to Forest Way at 9.30am this morning.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident report said:
“The fire originated on a cooker hob when an air fryer was placed on top and the hob was switched on.
“The fire spread to nearby kitchen utensils, and subsequently caused one square metre of fire damage, and 20% smoke damage to the kitchen.
“Two occupants were out of the building on arrival of the fire service.”

Two Ripon fire crews called after chip pan causes kitchen fire
Fire crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called to a kitchen fire in Ripon last night.
Crews were called to a house on Sandy Lane in Ripon just after 6pm last night. The residents reported a cooker fire which is thought to have started in a chip pan.
Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan and small tools were used to extinguish the fire.
The fire caused damage to the kitchen, floor, cooker and ventilation unit.
In the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service incident log it said:
“Two fire engines from Ripon responded to reports of a cooker fire, all persons were out of the property on arrival of crews. The oven was removed to open air and the property ventilated.”

Firefighters called to kitchen fire at Harrogate house
Firefighters attended reports of a kitchen fire at a house in Harrogate last night.
Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough rushed to St Mary’s Walk in town at around 10pm.
On arrival, the firefighters discovered a small fire in a microwave, which was already out. There was heavy smoke in the kitchen as a result.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said crews removed the microwave from the building and cleared the smoke with a ventilation fan.
A spokesperson for the service said:
“Appliances from Harrogate and Knaresborough attended reports of a kitchen fire in a residential property.
“Crews removed the microwave from the building and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan. Advice was given to residents and on site staff.”
