A bus service to the Yorkshire Dales from Harrogate and Knaresborough has been extended through the winter.

DalesBus 74 will run every Saturday to Ilkley, Bolton Abbey and Grassington.

It is expected to run until Easter 2024, when operators hope to extend it into the summer.

The 74 will leave Knaresborough bus station at 9.05am before calling at Harrogate at 9.10am. It returns from Grassington at 5pm and Bolton Abbey at 5.25pm.

The service is managed by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company, which aims to improve sustainable access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A bus service to the very top end of Nidderdale will restart for the summer 2023 season this weekend.

The DalesBus 821 service to Scar House reservoir in Upper Nidderdale will run from Keighley and Otley via the Washburn Valley to Pateley Bridge, then continues updale past Gouthwaite Reservoir to Ramsgill, Lofthouse and Scar House Reservoir every Sunday and Bank Holiday until October 22, 2023.

Buses leave from Pateley Bridge at 11.15am and 2.15pm, returning from Scar House Reservoir café at 12.45pm and 3.45pm.

Connections are available on DalesBus 24, leaving Harrogate Bus Station at 10.20am or 1.20pm.

All single fares are just £2  (£1 for under 19s) as part of the national Get Around For £2 initiative, which the government has just extended until the end of October.

Scar House and Angram reservoirs lie at the top of Nidderdale and supply water to Bradford.

Nidderdale DalesBus 821 is run by the Keighley Bus Company, with financial support from Yorkshire Water, as part of the DalesBus network, which is managed by the volunteer-run Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company.

It joins DalesBus service 822 between Ripon, Pateley Bridge and Grassington, which is already running on Sundays and Bank Holidays for the summer season. Buses leave Pateley Bridge at 11.15am and 3.25pm for Hebden and Grassington, and at 12.25pm and 4.25pm for Fountains Abbey and Ripon.

The Dales Bus summer service will begin its season this weekend.

The bus company provides access into and around the Yorkshire Dales on a not-for-profit basis.

It operates on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays throughout summer until October.

The 74 service from York Railway Station, which goes through Knaresborough and Harrogate and onto Ilkley, Bolton Abbey, Burnsall and Grassington, starts on Saturday.

Another Saturday route, the 59, will help people travel from Harrogate to Blubberhouses, Bolton Bridge and Skipton.

The 875 will depart from York every Sunday and Bank Holiday, starting this Easter weekend.

This year, an additional Sunday and bank holiday service – the 876 – will run from York to Leeds, Otley, Ilkley and Grassington, with onward connections to Upper Wharfedale and Hawes.

The national £2 single bus fare cap, which has been extended until June 30, will apply to Dales Bus services.

Improved bus links from Harrogate and Knaresborough to the Yorkshire Dales will begin this weekend.

A new service, DalesBus 74, will run every Saturday from Knaresborough and Harrogate to Ilkley, Bolton Abbey and Grassington. 

The Reliance bus leaves from Knaresborough Bus Station (stand C) at 9.10am and Harrogate Bus Station (stand 2) at 9.25am. It returns from Grassington at 5pm and Bolton Abbey at 5.25pm.

There are also minor changes to DalesBus 59, running between Harrogate and Skipton on Saturdays, from this weekend.  All journeys will return from Skipton five minutes later, and the bus will no longer call at Millstones.

From July 3, a service called Eastern DalesBus 825 will run on Sundays and Bank Holidays from Harrogate to Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, Masham, Leyburn and Richmond.

These services are managed by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company, which aims to improve sustainable access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 

Dales Rover day tickets are £10 for adults and £18 for any group of up to two adults and three children.  Concessionary bus passes for the elderly and disabled are valid for free travel on DalesBus 59 and DalesBus 74.
