Collision leaves traffic lights out of action on Station Parade

A van has collided with a traffic light at the junction of Station Parade and Victoria Avenue in Harrogate.

A white Peugeot van and a second vehicle were involved in the collision this morning, which has left the traffic lights out of action across the junction.

North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service are both on the scene.

Police officers are directing traffic and there is a short queue along Station Parade approaching the junction.

Traffic is unable to turn or continue into the eastern section of Victoria Avenue, towards Harrogate Baptist Church.

Collision in Starbeck leaves man with serious injuries

A pedestrian has been left with serious head and shoulder injuries after a collision in Starbeck last night.

A silver Nissan Micra was turning right from Starbeck High Street onto Forest Avenue around 7.55pm.

It collided with a pedestrian, who was taken to hospital and remains in a stable condition today.

Police closed the road while officers investigated and have now appealed for more information. A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:

“We are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.

“In particular, we are appealing for any dashcam footage of the collision.”

Firefighters and paramedics called to Pateley Bridge crash

Firefighters and paramedics were called to a single vehicle collision at Pateley Bridge today.

Fire crews from Harrogate and Ripon responded to an ambulance report of an incident on Old Church Lane at 11.45am.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service‘s incident log said:

“On arrival, driver was out of vehicle and in care of paramedics. Fire crew made the vehicle safe.”

About an hour later, Harrogate firefighters helped to remove two rings from a woman who turned up at the station unable to get them off.

Police appeal as investigations continue into Cold Bath Road cyclist collision

Investigations into a collision between a car and a bicycle on Cold Bath Road are continuing, two months after the incident happened.

North Yorkshire Police said a woman in her 50s was arrested and released under investigation while officers continue to make inquiries.

It follows the collision at the junction of West Cliffe Grove on Friday, August 12, between a white Vauxhall Viva travelling up Cold Bath Road from the Crown roundabout and a pedal cyclist coming down the road in the opposite direction.

The cyclist – a man in his 50s from the Richmond area – was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An air ambulance landed on the Stray and most of Cold Bath Road was closed for several hours while police dealt with the scene.

At the time, officers appealed for the driver of a dark-coloured hatchback who stopped at the scene to come forward. They have now said they have traced the driver.

However, they are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who saw either the car or the bicycle.

Multiple vehicle crash on A1 at Allerton Park

Emergency services were called out shortly after midnight last night to reports of a car crash on the A1 in the Harrogate district.

Two people needed treatment from ambulance crews at the scene following the incident, which happened on the northbound carriageway at junction 47.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service‘s incident log says firefighters from Knaresborough and Harrogate attended a “multi-vehicle road traffic collision”. It adds:

“On arrival crews found that no persons were trapped. Two walking wounded casualties with minor injuries were left in the care of police and ambulance crews.

“Crews made the scene safe and carried out a thorough search of the embankment for further casualties. Incident left in the hands of police.”

Man seriously injured in crash on Harrogate’s Leeds Road

Three people had to be freed from their vehicles after a two-car collision on Leeds Road between Pannal and Harrogate last night.

One man was taken to hospital in an ambulance after the smash, which led to the road being closed.

It is now known how bad his injuries are.

According to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, three people were out of the vehicles when they were called at about 9pm.

Firefighters used cutting gear and other tools to release them.

They issued further details today, saying the collision occurred at 7.36pm and involved a red Volkswagen Golf and a black Range Rover.

“The Golf was travelling from Harrogate towards Pannal and the Range Rover was travelling from the Pannal direction towards Harrogate.

“The sole occupant of the Golf was taken to hospital with serious, potentially life changing injuries.

“The five occupants of the Range Rover were also taken to hospital with injuries.

“Road closures were put in place for around six hours while emergency crews attended the scene and an initial investigation was carried out.”

Two people cut from vehicles in Knaresborough this morning

Two people had to be cut from their vehicles in Knaresborough this morning following separate crashes.

Firefighters from Harrogate and Knaresborough were initially called to a two-vehicle collision at the junction of the B6164 and A658 at 8.34am.

On arrival, all occupants from one vehicle were out of their car but a woman was unable to leave the other vehicle because of neck injuries.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to free the woman, who was taken to hospital.

Harrogate and Knaresborough crews were called out again at 9.44am when a single vehicle collided with a bollard on Thistle Hill.

The elderly male driver suffered neck, back and knee injuries and was unable to get out of the vehicle.

Firefighters again cut the roof of the vehicle to release the man, who was taken to hospital.

Neither person taken to hospital is believed to have suffered serious injuries.

Motorists warned of major delays on A1M near Knaresborough

Motorists using the A1M near Knaresborough have been warned of a 60-minute delay following a collision this afternoon.

Highways England tweeted that the collision occurred southbound between junction 47 for Knaresborough and junction 46 for Wetherby.

Two lanes were closed, but North Yorkshire Police traffic officers have since removed the vehicles and reopened the lanes.

Highways England said that speeds on approach to the incident are less than 10mph.

Car driven off after colliding with Ripon city centre building

Police are appealing for information after a car drove into a property on Duck Hill in Ripon.

The collision happened between 4am and 4.15am on Wednesday, December 30, when a blue BMW collided with a commercial property and failed to stop.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said:

“The collision caused structural damage to the business and as a result it has had to close pending building works. The vehicle failed to stop and it is believed that it was being driven by a man with another man in the passenger seat at the time of the collision.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or remembers seeing the car prior to the collision is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police as soon as possible to help with the investigation.

Pedestrian injured in Harrogate town centre collision

A pedestrian was left with a serious ankle injury after a collision with a black BMW X6 in the centre of Harrogate.

It happened at the junction of The Ginnel and Montpellier Street on Tuesday at around 4pm.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses, or anyone with CCTV footage of the area, to help establish the full details of what happened.
