A monthly artisan market will raise funds for a food waste and food poverty charity covering Harrogate and Knaresborough.
Held at Gracious Street Methodist Church, Knaresborough Artisan Market will have stalls across three rooms featuring independent traders.
It will raise funds for Resurrected Bites, which runs community groceries and pay-as-you-feel cafes in the same venue and in Harrogate.
The market runs from 10am to 3pm tomorrow, Saturday, with more dates booked in for Saturday, November 5 and Saturday December 3.
As well as refreshments and cakes, traders will be selling jewellery, art, crystals, gifts, candles, beauty products, vegan and eco products, and more.
The market is being organised by Resurrected Bites volunteer Jade Lapsley.
The charity’s chief executive Michelle Hayes said:
“We have challenging times ahead to meet the demand for our services. In order to run our community groceries and give-as-you-can community cafes and shops, we still need to run various fundraising activities to help cover our costs.
“One of those activities is the Starbeck Artisan Market. This is a great opportunity to support the local economy and start Christmas shopping in addition to helping Resurrected Bites raise much needed funds.”
Earlier this month, Resurrected Bites appealed for more corporate supporters in order to ensure it could continue to support vulnerable people through the cost of living crisis.
While it said it has funding in place for the next six months, the amount of food waste being donated had dropped and the charity was having to buy in more in order to meet demand.

New artisan market at Boroughbridge this weekend
An artisan market is being held at Minskip Farm Shop near Boroughbridge on Sunday.
The market is the result of a partnership between Yolk Farm, which owns the shop and Little Bird Markets, which already runs numerous markets. including ones in Harrogate. Knaresborough and Ripon.
Stalls will sell handmade goods, artisan products and local produce.
Exhibitors include Marley Fields Pet Boutique, Flora & Co, which sells garden products, York Swirling Soapery and Blueberry Hill Preserves, which sells chutneys, preserves, honey, curds and cheeses.
Jackie Crozier, managing director of Little Bird Markets, said:
“We will have a wide variety of traders selling their artisan goods and Easter items, for last minute gifts. The farm shop will be open for food and the farm for visiting the animals.”
The farm, which provides alpaca experiences, is also running an Easter egg hunt.
The market will take place from 10am to 3pm at Yolk Farm on Minskip Road.

New artisan market to open in Knaresborough this Saturday
A new artisan market is set to open this Saturday on Knaresborough’s Market Place.
The market set up by Little Bird Made will sell artisanal products – varying from food and drink to clothes and plants.
Working with Knaresborough Town Council the new artisan market will be monthly.
Hazel Morrison, press officer at Little Bird Made, said:
“Little Bird Made run a number of markets across the North Yorkshire area and with Knaresborough being well known as a market town, set within a beautiful setting, what better place to expand our portfolio of venues to include.”
“The dates for the market until the end of the year are, Saturday 2 of October, 6 of November and 19 of December. We are currently working on our programme of dates for 2022 and the market will take place monthly, with set dates to be confirmed.”

The market will contain 50 curated stalls – catering to a wide range of customers. It will run from 9am to 3pm.
Little Bird Made is also organising the new Christmas market in the Valley Gardens, Harrogate from December 2 to 4.

Harrogate to get second Christmas marketA second Christmas market is to be staged in Harrogate on the first weekend of December.
Harrogate Borough Council said in a statement today it had agreed a partnership with Little Bird Made to hold a festive artisan market in Valley Gardens on December 4 and 5.
The statement added that subject to an acceptable event management plan, the artisan market will feature around 60 local traders and producers.
The stalls will sell a variety of festive arts and crafts, clothing, homeware, jewellery, as well as locally produced food and drink.

It will accompany the new Harrogate Christmas Fayre, organised across town by Market Place Europe, which will run from December 3 until December 12.
The fayre will see 50 stalls erected in Cambridge Street, Market Place, Station Square and Cambridge Crescent.
Harrogate Borough Council is also working with Harrogate BID and North Yorkshire County Council on the fayre, which will take the place of the one traditionally held on Montpellier Hill.
‘Festive cheer’
Little Bird Made’s website says its markets offer a “diverse, quality, shopping experience that celebrates independent producers”.
Ripon resident Jackie Crozier, who set up Little Bird Made in 2018, said:
“I am delighted to be working with Harrogate Borough Council to bring an additional Christmas market to Harrogate this year.
“Our markets showcase some of Yorkshire’s finest small businesses and are a great opportunity to bring some festive cheer and buy that special gift for the holidays.
“We are always looking for new traders to join our growing portfolio of markets, so anyone looking for a stall should get in touch.”

Little Bird Artisan Markets is launching its first market in Harrogate next weekend.
The company already has several well-established monthly markets in Yorkshire, including Boroughbridge, Ripon and Pateley Bridge.
Founder Jackie Crozier, who grew up in Ripon, said her aim was to help local businesses to sell their goods and meet customers in person.
Many small firms have flourished during the pandemic by selling products online.
The Harrogate artisan market will open from 10am until 3pm on Saturday June 19 at St Wilfrid’s Church and will return every month.
More than 50 stallholders will be selling items such as homeware, food and plants.
Jackie Crozier said:
“This will be my first artisan market in Harrogate, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming an exciting range of different local stallholders, who will be showcasing the fantastic local produce.
“I hope the community will get behind the event and come along and meet the makers.”

The Little Bird Artisan Market will be returning to Boroughbridge again this weekend for the second time since lockdown restrictions eased.
Tomorrow the market will sell food and drinks, arts and crafts and homemade gifts. Local live musicians will also be performing throughout the day.
The market of 35 stalls will be held at the Langthorpe Farm Shop with an outside bar. The event is pet-friendly and people are welcome to bring dogs.
The market is scheduled to take place from 10am until 3pm on the first Saturday of each month in Boroughbridge, with other dates at venues across North Yorkshire including Harrogate.

The last market took place over the first May bank holiday weekend and was a success among locals.
The event was curated by Boroughbridge local Jackie Crozier, who said:
“I genuinely believe in shopping small, shopping within local communities and supporting small businesses to thrive. What better way to do this than supporting a local community outdoor market, with skilled vendors selling high quality goods.”
Project co-ordinator Izzy has advertised for local small businesses to get in touch on their Facebook page regarding taking a stall.
Artisan market heading to Harrogate this summerA Harrogate church in the Duchy area is set to welcome a monthly artisan market from summer until December.
The Little Bird Artisan Market will sell locally produced arts and crafts, ceramics, jewellery, clothing, flowers, food and drink.
St Wilfrid’s Church on Duchy Road will host the first outdoor market on Saturday, June 19 between 10am and 3pm.
The outdoor market will then be at the church every month until December 18.

Organisers hope lockdown easing measures permit the market to go ahead as planned.
The team has already launched artisan markets in Boroughbridge, Ripon, Pateley Bridge, Wetherby and Easingwold.
St Wilfrid’s Church will host the market.

Boroughbridge farm shop hopes to boost trade with artisan marketA Boroughbridge farm shop is hoping to raise its profile and promote other small businesses by hosting an artisan market this weekend.
When the pandemic put a stop to their events catering business, owners Linda and Andi Aikman had to adapt. They used their local suppliers to start delivering food boxes.
This took off and they opened The Langthorpe Farm Shop and cafe over the summer. The pair are determined to support other small, local businesses.
The market, being held this Saturday, October 31, will stand on the shop’s large car park and across two fields it has rented behind.
It is being organised by Little Bird Artisan Markets and will include 40 traders.

To be covid-safe, a one-way system will be in place to direct visitors around the food, craft and art stalls. Visitors are also encouraged to wear a mask and only touch items they are going to buy.
The farm shop will also have its own stall to encourage visitors to come inside.
Linda said:
“Our events business came to a bit of a stop in March. So we took to crazy risk in July to buy the shop.
“It’s steady, but people still need to know we’re here. I’m hoping this market will raise our profile and support other small, local businesses too.”
Linda is passionate about supporting other local traders and also the community. Like many other food outlets, she is currently offering free takeaway lunches for those in need during half term.

“We want to help serve local communities with the best artisan stalls, whilst giving traders the best opportunities to showcase and sell their handmade goods. When the opportunity came along to work with the team at Langthorpe Farm, it was the perfect match.”
Live music will be playing throughout and one of the stars of The Yorkshire Vet, Julian Norton, will be there to sign his book. A pumpkin competition will also be held in the afternoon.
